Don’t Forget to Wave
As you are traveling down the highways and byways of this great country keep in mind that you can spread good cheer with a simple act. Wave! We always wave to other folks that are driving any type of RV. And we’re not prejudice. We even wave to the folks who are driving an RV which costs ten times what our rig cost. We get rather enthusiastic when we come across another RV just like ours and include hooting and hollering along with the waves. I can’t tell you how disappointing it can be when you wave to a fellow camper and no one waves back. It doesn’t cost anything. It makes someone else feel good. It makes a connection with a fellow camper. This is a win-win situation. So why don’t some folks wave back?

RV Friendly Signage - You Can Help
There is an important new symbol being added to the blue informational signs along the highways. These signs tell you what services are available at an exit. Two states are adding a round yellow circle with the letters RV inside to those services which have room for big rigs. What a relief to know which gas station is actually big enough for your RV before you pull off the highway. This is underway in Oregon and Louisiana and it is the result of RVers just like you who have lobbied for this feature. You can help promote this in your own state. Frank Brodersen of the Family Motor Coach Association tells how to start the process in your state.

Leaf Peepers Guide to Foliage
Ready to see some gorgeous foliage but not sure where to go? There are two websites that can help you time your trip for peak color. Both Weather.com and the FoliageNetwork.com offer information by region and rate the foliage. Just select the region and you are well on your way to planning a trip to see the glorious colors that Mother Nature offers at this time of year. And if you are interested in joining the network of folks that send reports to the Foliage Network, consider becoming a foliage spotter. Enjoy the leaves.

Recall Notices for Fleetwood and Monaco Motorhomes
Some Fleetwood motorhomes equipped with Draw-Tite-brand hitch receivers are being recalled due to potential missing welds in the hitch receiver box. This can cause the receiver box to separate from the motorhome. The list of motorhomes manufactured after 2002 affected by this recall is quite lengthy, so please review this article if you have this type of hitch. Monaco has three recalls dealing with windshield wiping system on some Beaver coaches, the antilock brake system on some Executive models and certain Holiday Ramblers may have a problem with the wiring on the patio awning motor.

Find a Festival to Keep you Warm
It’s time for snowbirding - when folks head south for the winter. As you plan your route or destination, you might want to consider a festival. There’s one for every interest. There are festivals for your taste buds, your ears, your feet and your nose. If you like seafood, there are several seafood festivals in Florida. Head to Georgia for an agricultural fair. Want to listen to some great music? Try North Carolina. Look for a holiday festival in South Carolina. Craft shows abound in Tennessee and Virginia. Not only are festivals fun, but they help you learn about the culture of the state.

WiFi, Wi What?
So what is WiFi anyway? WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. It gives you the ability to connect to the Internet without wires. It requires some additional equipment for your PC, but once you have it, you no longer need to leave the comfort of your own motorhome to connect. Many RV parks are adding WiFi to their list of services to attract computer savvy campers. But there are also places where you can connect while you are on the road. Some locations are free, some require a purchase and others charge an hourly or monthly fee.
