Description:
Here is what most would call a street rod. I have put a lot of love into this Fordebaker. It is registered as a '40 Ford truck but it has a '40 Studebaker bed, an early '64 260 v-8 motor with a 4- barrel Carter AFB carb, a C-4 automatic transmission, a Mustang II front end with rack and pinion steering and disc brakes (to steer and stop this wild ride), a nine inch rear end(not sure of gearing), power brakes, air bags in the rear(to get some lift for loading), new windows(rear is original) and rubber, and a whole lot of pride and compassion for the future handling of this piece of american history. Anyone who sees beyond color can see the true beauty of this truck, and can appreciate the time and mindwork that has been put into it. This truck is in the detail stage, and just needs "your fine tuning". I tinker with the interior almost everyday(upholstery is not my strong point). The seats are out of a '77 Mustang. They are blue, so I found some color matching black and gray covers for now. The floor is all newly redone to accomodate the new motor and tranny, and has black fabric covering it over. The battery is nicely tucked under the passenger seat, and it is supplied with a 1 wire alternator that keeps it up. The dash cluster has not been converted to 12 volt and is a detail that either you or I can address (I would rather have someone else do wiring), but it does have headlights (high and low), park lights, and brake lights(recessed with bezels).This truck is a cruiser, it wants to just purr and cruzzz. There are details that only the driver can disquinguish,(such as the pedal height) that the serious would modify(as the whole truck is)to suite his or her personal liking.
