Description:
This 1975 Contessa was built by J.J. Taylor of Belleville, Ontario, and is hull number 6. They only built 86 of the 32 class, and this particular boat was only in salt water for one season sailing the Caribbean. I am the fourth owner, and purchased this vessel from a friend___s father who unfortunately broke his hip falling down the companionway. With my close friend, we sailed her extensively on Georgian Bay, and upon his father___s return from the Caribbean Lake Ontario. When it came up for sale, I immediately purchased her and undertook an extensive overhaul, by replacing/repairing the whole boat. I brought the boat into my own warehouse for a winter and stripped the deck completely of every fitting, having these either re-buffed or re-chromed. The deck and hull was washed, scraped, and sanded with all chips repaired. Than I purchased ALL_GRIP cream colour high gloss paint for the hull and white with AWL_GRIP-Grip Master for the deck. Three coats of primer were applied to the hull, and than 3 coats of paint. The deck also had 2 coats of primer and four coats of deck paint. All through hull fittings were re-bedded with all new hoses and stainless valves installed. All deck fittings were also re-fitted, re-chromed and polished like new. A new custom made cradle was built by a machinist/millwright friend of mine, using 2___ x 6___- __ inch side wall tubing and is easily dismantled, so it may be stored flat. This all began in 1997 and was complete in 2000.
