Description:
This is one of those trucks that I would call restored 'as needed' during its life, and it has probably never been fully disassembled for a complete restoration. This means a truck that drives well, looks great, and doesn't need any sorting or tinkering to make it ready to show and go. The paint has obviously been redone at some point, and the bodywork looks good. The color is Beige with some really cool pin striping. Chrome and stainless trim looks good throughout, again with some parts being nice original pieces, while others may have been replaced or restored not too long ago. The glass is clear all around, lenses are undamaged and bright, and all the correct GMC emblems are in place. This truck still looks like the potent work machine that commanded a lot of respect. Mechanically, this truck carries the engine you really want: the 454 cubic inch with a Holley (4-barrel) V8. Everyone knows the potential built into every one of these engines, and how easy it is to make those giant heads support giant horsepower. In stock form, they are durable, easy-running engines that are perfectly happy tooling around town instead of tearing up a race track. This truck fires up easily and idles perfectly, I know because I did just that twenty minutes ago. It isn't high-strung or finicky, because this was a mainstream truck and the GM engineers knew that most of their customers weren't going to be running these trucks at 7000 RPM at the track. This one is ready to cruise with the stout TH400 automatic transmission that moves easily through the gears as you drive. Out back there's a properly finished Ford 9-inch rear with 3.00 gears for easy cruising. Inside you'll find a complete Beige interior. Look around and you'll see that the seats are in great shape, the carpets are still dark, and there's no evidence of sun damage on the dash. It looks awesome in there, with aftermarket oil, temp and rpm gauges adding that nice touch to the dash. The really exciting part about this truck is it only has around 10k miles since the rebuild and there is a ton of docs that back it up, including the builders hand written notes and checklists. If you're looking for a stout daily driver that looks good, this is the one.
